This weekend we got to celebrate something pretty special. Well, actually we got to celebrate several things that are pretty special. Our beloved pastor, Rick Countryman, is officially passing the baton to Pastor Joel Boone and will be transitioning from his position of Co-senior pastor to Associate Pastor. He will still be around, and will be a part of the Teaching Team as well as be the Modesto Campus Pastor, where he will oversee guest services and first impressions, something he is very passionate about. He is an honorable man worthy of recognition and praise.
We also got surprise him with something he had no idea was coming. One of his goals as a senior pastor was to leave our church debt free. Several years about we borrowed around 5 million dollars to fund the building of our High School and through Rick’s guidance and stewardship, we officially paid off that loan in May of 2021. Rick had the great privilege of burning the note (or at least a copy of it!) on stage to the delight and celebration of our church body.
